A raw, open, vulnerable and honest conversation for us by us, within our community – a space for true healing.
Black Joy Parade was started to create space for us – our joy, our creativity, our expression, our liberation, our healing. But creating space means also being accountable for protecting it. It’s been brought to light recently that there are some in our community who are looking to take advantage of Black women and not helping to uphold our commitment to protect them.
Though we won’t be participating in any type of ‘cancel culture’, we believe in the power of accountability and restorative justice. As an organization we’ve sat with these discussions trying to find a real way to work towards healing, and we came up with just that – a conversation. A raw, open, vulnerable and honest conversation for us by us, within our community – a space for true healing.
