What does consciously anti-racist Jewish community look like? How can the process of building such a community deepen our awareness of structural racism and activate our capacities for collective liberation? Relevant to all who are engaged in uprooting racism, creating spiritual community, or passionate about Jewish culture, we invite you to join us as we launch our deepest work yet on the path to racial justice. This is open to all.

Kehilla Community Synagogue is thrilled to present We Rise: Building an Anti-Racist Jewish Community, featuring educator and spiritual practitioner Yavilah McCoy and the voices of Kehilla’s Black, Indigenous and People of Color leaders as they explore ways to create Jewish communities that center the lives of Jews of Color and dismantle white supremacy.

Proceeds from this fundraiser directly support Kehilla’s Belonging & Allyship: Racial Justice Initiative, which aims to make Kehilla a place where People of Color experience belonging and are able to bring their full selves into the community, and white people do the work to recognize, understand and actively challenge white supremacy both in U.S culture and within Kehilla.

Yavilah McCoy is the CEO of DIMENSIONS Inc. in Boston. She has spent the past 20 years working extensively in multi-faith communities and partnering specifically with the Jewish community to engage issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. Yavilah is an educator, activist and spiritual teacher. She is a Jewish woman and a person of color and has designed numerous tools and methods that enable students and educators to be better citizens of the world through exploring differences and reaching for tangible solutions in allied engagement. She is a renowned speaker, educator, and spiritual practitioner.

Kehilla Community Synagogue is a progressive synagogue at the leading edge of racial and economic equity in the San Francisco Bay Area.
