Dear Allies,
A City government only embodies democratic values when it is as diverse and representative of the people who reside within. Together, with your support, we can make a more equitable and just San Francisco. We are ALL San Franciscans! Service should be based on character and qualifications, not immigration status.
Covid-19 has exposed the economic disparities facing people of color and immigrants. Policy decisions and budget outcomes are not decided or overseen by all the populations this pandemic hit hardest. As a matter of fact, the diversity of our City Commissions has declined every year since 2015. By allowing aspiring citizens to make decisions on programs and services that affect them most, Prop C can build a pipeline of civic leaders to improve how services are delivered to our most impacted San Franciscans.
In 2016, San Francisco became the first City in California to allow aspiring citizen parents to vote for School Board. In 2019, California made history, expanding eligibility for all Californians to serve on state boards and commissions, regardless of immigration status. Amid this time when our communities are being attacked by the current administration, San Francisco must lead once again. We can do it by demonstrating our commitment to dismantle systemic barriers and discriminatory policies. We can do it by becoming the First City in the United States to allow ALL residents of voting age to serve on any city board or commission by passing Prop C.
Have you considered serving on a City commission? Would you like to endorse our campaign? Would you like to volunteer or make a contribution ahead of our Kickoff? You can visit www.SFCommissionsforAll.org.
With your support, we can win! Thank you for joining the fight to pass Prop C on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
